NOTE: America has been held captive by the policies of OPEC.
His election came with an added bonus of a majority in both chambers of Congress, but the economic collapse of 2008-2009, has proven to be more than his skill-set could handle.
Even with the best academia could muster with their bogus economic theories and textbook ideas, which have never been proven to work in the history of mankind, our great country is mired in a bureaucratic, liberal-progressive, quicksand and is sinking further and further into debt with little to show for it…and following the State of The Union Address, Obama wanst to double down on his failed policies.
Now of course, the President claimed his election/re-election gave him a mandate from the vote of the people which he won by 4% over Mitt Romney. While there was evidence of voter irregularities, which it doesn’t seem will end until we flush the toilet in Washington, ridding the corruption from the Administration down through Congress and the Supreme Court, I’ll be the first to give Mr. Obama his due and concede his mandate. He was given the ball and he tried to run with it (not once, but twice).
The tidal wave of the people who overwhelmingly (far more than a 4% margin) felt that Obama with the football, actually fumbled the minute he started to run with it, was evidenced by the last election results.
We’ve seen liberal-progressivism in action and it isn’t pretty… Obamacare, NSA spying, Benghazi, using the IRS to punish his opponents, sweet-deal loans and grants from the U.S. Treasuries to Obama’s campaign donors for green projects (most all of which went south into bankruptcy), Fast Furious Gun Running, the highest number of people on welfare than at any time in history, bank bailouts, and the Administration’s picking winners and losers in our supposed free-enterprise marketplace…one chaotic adventure after another.
While the President, backed by the mainstream media, which has violated its sacred trust to hold the government accountable to the people, has claimed that America is on the “road to recovery”, a whopping 60+% of Americans wonder just how many left-handed cigarettes are being smoked inside the White House.
Most agree the government is out-of-touch with reality. The figures regarding that contention, once we opened the lid and took a look inside, paint an entirely different story.
November 2014’s election sent the President and those Democrats and Republicans hiding out in Washington, a message that we are fed up with the shenanigans going on in government in which it seems everyone is racing to see who can destroy the country faster…the Administration – out to rule by imperial power (executive orders); a Congress willing to abandon their sworn duty to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; or the unelected , overpaid bureaucrats out to punish the citizenry with rules, regulations, and fees, many without congressional oversight.
Now, the 2014 election was our MANDATE from the people, that we were sick and tired of being sick and tired…enough is enough!
It is obvious that most of us just are not buying the bill of goods being sold by the Administration. Everywhere you look, Americans are having trouble building wealth because wages have stagnated for more than a decade. Median household income was $51,017 in 2012, compared to $56,080 in 1999, according to the Census Bureau’s most recent statistics. 15.1 % of the country lives in poverty compared to 11% back in the year 2000. 47 million are receiving food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program -SNAP), and for the first time in U.S. history, we’ve passed the 49% level of Americans receiving government assistance in one form or another.
Middle class Americans have been clobbered by the housing collapse in 2008-2009, with foreclosures and evictions the highest ever The median wealth of families was $77,300 in 2010, a nearly 40% drop from 2007, according to Federal Reserve statistics. In 2013 family wealth fell even further to $56,355! Is it any wonder that fewer and fewer people are feeling “middle class” these days.
In its current state, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for those stuck on the lower rungs of the economic ladder to move upward, because we simply haven’t the middle-skill jobs required.
According to a New York Federal Reserve Bank analysis, such jobs have increased only 46% between 1980 and 2009, compared to 110% for low-skill jobs, and with the requirement of mandatory healthcare under Obamacare for full-time employees, companies are trimming much of their workforce to part-time status, which usually spells lower pay across the board.
Contrary to what we hear from President Obama the situation is NOT getting better. With the FED printing money so fast the printing presses are smoking, inflation has to be right around the corner, and another troubling indicator is that the stock market is accelerating just like before Black Tuesday when it all collapsed in 1929, kicking off the Great Depression. I am sure shaky investors are saying their prayers every night that they can get out before the house of cards collapses.
In a recent survey by the Pew Research Center/USA Today, Americans who considered themselves upper class has also shrunk; many have lost their jobs, gone through much of their retirement savings and investments, and have been forced into taking part-time jobs just to feed their families.
To add insult to injury, the lucrative job market that had been characteristic of our free-market system, may not comeback for decades unless we unleash our potential by ripping-off the shackles that are killing our small business creation (bureaucratic rules, regulation, fees, taxes, and red tape).
The Administration crows about the improved job market and tries to hype the employment figures to a dumbed-down populace by telling them, “we created 288,000 jobs in June – meaning full-time jobs. Not so. Full-time jobs plunged by over half a million, or 523,000. What’s increased is part-time jobs. They soared by about 800,000 to over 28 million. Just think of all those Americans working part time, no doubt glad to have the work, but they also have lower pay, diminished benefits, and a lack of job security. And then there’s the effect on self-esteem and the stress of managing a household.” Mort Zuckerman, U.S. News
Back in the Sixties, the government began calculating the unemployment rate differently in an attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of the people. The true civilian labor force unemployment would be to divided the total workforce available by the number of people employed. So if you had a total available workforce of 10 and 7 had jobs, the unemployment rate would be 30%…pretty simple.
BUT the government confuses the facts by not counting those unemployed who have run out of unemployment benefits, those who have quit looking for work, those working part-time, and countless other factors which amounts to looking the other way about the REAL job situation.
Please follow closely…The old story that liars can figure and figures lie is the “shell game” the government uses to obfuscate the employment/unemployment numbers. According to the 2010 Census, there are 234,564,100 people in the U.S. over the age of 18 and 49,972,100 over the age of 62. That means there are 184,592,000 people of working age in this country. Approximately 6,800,000 million are incarcerated or under supervision by the adult correction systems in the U.S., leaving 177,792,000 people available to hold some kind of job.
According the Department of Labor Statistics there are 147,442,000 million people holding a job today. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, with all of its “shell game” statistical calculations, comes up with a figure of 8,688,000 people who are “unemployed” giving an unemployment rate of 5.6%.
As the pitchman for the television late night advertiser, Shamwow, would say, “But Wait”…What about the 21,662,000 people (177,792,000 eligible working population minus the 147,442,000 people who are working) who seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth?
The government says 147,442,000 people are working and ONLY 8,688,000 (a paltry 5.6%) of the total don’t have jobs. We are missing 21,662,000 people here that are unaccounted for! I guess they don’t count. This would show the real unemployment at around 17%.
The country is in a mess and we have a president who doesn’t have a clue. Even worse, we have a Congress that doesn’t get it. Even after the election results were in, and before the new 114th Congress could be sworn in, Congress voted for a budget that would float the government into 2015 without giving it a second thought…it is as if they were not paying attention to the people!
Next we have the President state clearly, that he plans to rule the next two years by executive orders, bypassing the Congressional role to create laws, and using his non-elected agencies (EPA, IRS, and all the rest) to twist our once vaunted economic system into further dictatorial submission by implementing more rules, regulations, taxes, penalties, fees, and bringing to halt any life left in our economy.
As an encore he announced he will veto any legislation like the Keystone Pipeline, efforts to defund his immigration order, sanctions against Iran, attempts to scale back financial reforms, and any bill limiting presidential power…in short, he declared war on Congress and the working American public with whom he has so little regard.
I will write more on the political decisions as they roll out of Washington in the coming months, but I did want to talk briefly about the foibles of being against the Keystone Pipeline and the threatened veto of any legislation pertaining to it.
Much has already been written and 60+% of the public is behind our country becoming energy independent, which would be insured by construction and access to the energy the pipeline would deliver.
New York’s Senator Schumer said Democrats plan to help the President sustain his veto, but this is the same Schumer who brags about the recent creation of jobs Mort Zuckerman wrote about above…We do not need more part-time jobs Mr. Schumer; we need full-time, well-paying jobs!
Those who have voiced opposition to the Keystone Pipeline have based their objection on false premises such as environmental issues; that the jobs created would be only temporary; and that even with the pipeline in place, the oil would simply end up at the refineries in Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana, and then be processed and shipped off shore creating little benefit to the citizens of the U.S.
In the first place, the construction jobs are not fly-by-night, slam-bam-thank-you-ma’am jobs. Construction would take time and 37,000 high paying expected jobs would be a welcome relief to those needing work.
The lower cost of gasoline, which we have seen lately, would insure lower prices at the pump driving down transportation costs for goods and services, travel, farming, pharmaceuticals, and hydrocarbons used in manufacturing, causing an explosion in economic activity.
Business would once again see profits reminiscent of the Sixties and could easily create 5 million new jobs from business expansion. U.S. goods would again be competitively priced and the multiplier effect from the payroll of 5 million new workers would mean more than a trillion dollars added to our country’s Gross Domestic Product.
The House has passed the necessary paperwork for Keystone and there is enough support in the Senate to place the bill on Obama’s desk for signature. With an anticipated veto, it will be up to the majority of Americans who support energy independence, to pressure every member of Congress, Republican and Democrat, to muster the 67 votes necessary in the Senate, to override the veto.
The Republicans currently have 63 votes if all vote in favor, so the phone lines and postal service will be needed to gain support from a small handful of Democrats from energy producing states.
There will be battle for sure, but one we must win. The Democrats, according to Schumer, want to load the bill up will all kinds of attachments including more “green energy investments” by the government, and requiring only U.S. made steel and construction material. Trillions spent on “green energy” and yet it accounts for ONLY 7% of U.S. energy use!
I have no problem with the U.S. made construction material and steel, but come on…The loss of billions of dollars on Obama’s Green Energy Failures below, speak for themselves and say…”Enough is enough!”:
